Steve, like every other kid, rode a bike, then went through the typical life, got a car, married Kim, had 2 girls, Aryn & Kodi, worked, etc.,. In 1994 he bought his first mountain bike & life took a turn. Family, working, & mountain bikes became his life. Mountain Bike racing when he could, and trail riding as much as possible.
In 1999, life took another turn, tired of working in the Corporate Retail world, 55 hour work weeks for some corporation, and seeing a friend die of cancer at a young age, Steve decided that life had to change. “Hmm, what if I opened a bike shop, I could be around bikes all the time, talk about bikes all the time, life could be good”. So that’s the story of how and why Steve opened Saucon Valley Bikes.
Steve has ridden throughout the eastern corridor of the US, from Acadia Maine, riding the Pan-Mass Challenge from Boston out to Cape Cod, mountain riding upstate New York, as well as the Five Borough ride in NYC. In PA riding Bald Eagle State Forest, Jim Thorpe, Kettle Creek in Potter County, extensive riding in the Lehigh Valley, the PA Dutch MS150 a few times, including the Double Dutch, back to back century, in two days. Racing the 24 hrs of Allamuchy NJ, as well as the MS150 City to Shore. Other areas ridden would be Central Florida, Ashville NC, Georgia, Virginia, Mass, Baltimore/DC area, Central Michigan, Aspen Colorado, Gallup New Mexico, Sedona AZ & Indiana. Since getting that first mountain bike in 94 Steve has logged over 20,000 miles on his various bikes.
